Things to Keep in Mind before Applying for a Chinese Working Visa

Before you accept employment in another country, you need to make sure you successfully secure a work visa. This can be a tricky process since applicants are required to submit extensive documentation and health certificates.

Here are a few things for you to consider before you apply for a Chinese work visa:

Passport Requirements

In order to apply for a work permit, you will have to submit your passport over to the authorities. An important thing you must make sure of it that your passport must remain valid for the next 12 months. If this is not the case, you are advised to apply for a passport renewal.

You will be required to submit a passport that has at least two blank pages with no other stamps.

If you have a valid Chinese visa, attach it with your passport at the time of submission.

Visa Application Form Requirements

You will have to fill out a computerized visa application form, print it out and sign it before you submit it to the consulate in your country. Furthermore, the application should be typed out in black letters. Make sure you download the correct version of the form.

Remember that all the files are mandatory and if a section doesn’t apply to you, fill it in with an “N/A”; don’t leave any spaces empty.

Passport Photograph Requirements

Firstly, you must remember that you need to submit passport-sized photographs of yourself which adhere to the standard size—33mm x 48mm. It’s preferable that you keep the background plain white as well.

Furthermore, the photos must be taken during the last 6 months.

Original Invitation Letter

Since you’re applying for a work permit, you will be visiting the country on official business. For this purpose, it is important that you submit a letter of invitation.

You must acquire an Invitation Letter of Duly Authorized Unit or a Confirmation of Invitation Letter by the appropriate Chinese entity.

While these are the usual things you need to be mindful of while applying for a Chinese Z Visa, it isn’t uncommon for embassies to require additional documents. This depends greatly from country to country.

To make sure you carry all the required documents to the consulate, you may want to employ the services of an agency with the relevant expertise.
